My first flying lesson....

Only I get THIS excited to sit in the cockpit of a plane.........

I enjoyed the flight out to Nantucket so much last week, that I decided to sign up for some flying lessons....starting next week:)  I'm so excited to try this, I think it runs in my family to love flying as my dad, and my brother Ian were both pilots......I'm not sure if I will share their talents, but I'd like to try....

This is a very poignant poem for me.....

High Flight:

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,

I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace

Where never lark, or even eagle flew -

And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod

The high untresspassed sanctity of space,

Nantucket......I finally get why everyone loves it soooo much.

I spent the last few days in Nantucket, visiting a close friend from childhood......and all that I can say is....I finally get it.

my little car while I was there......

 Sweet little houses, relaxed people, beautiful beaches and a simple way of life make for an experience which is so different than other places.  We made food on the grill, drove to the beach in a retro Land Rover jeep, stayed in little rustic cottages that had outdoor, not indoor showers.  It's the first time in quite a while that I wasn't on a schedule, and I finally feel calm.......
