Weekend in Miami....Delano, Mynt, Casa Tua.....fun:)

Me and Miss Maine

This past Saturday I flew into Miami right after work, and spent the weekend there with some friends.  Saturday night, I rushed out after trying to "work the miracle" (get pretty.......) in my room at the Delano, then meet up for some sushi with the group.  One of my friends...Miss NH had broken her toe earlier that day, but being the NH girl that she is, she rallied....and threw on a Leger dress and a set of 4 inch heels, and we went on to Mynt where we had a fantastic table, and danced all night.

My girls:)
I can't even tell you how much I love making a visit to Mynt whenever I'm in Miami, it's always an amazing time.  Here's a video that I put together of us "mynting" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCHKfLPppb4&feature=player_embedded In true Miami style I didn't walk into my hotel room until 4am.......but the night was so worth it!

Fueling up to workout at David Barton.....

Sunday Morning I met up with my friend Miss Maine, and we went to Cafe Bustello for some double espresso shots (sooooooo tired from being on a crazy sleep schedule.....then off to work out at the David Barton Gym, which is at the Gansevoort hotel.  The gym is huge, and built out like an impressive nightclub.  It was a little funny to work out there though, because they keep it very dark....it made me want to go back to sleep.  Who am I kidding......everything made me want to sleep that day, I was exhausted!

We had dinner at Asia De Cuba on Sunday night at the Mondrian, it was amazing, and the conversation and company was even better:)

Tuesday Miss NH and I lounged by the pool after a morning of breakfast and coffee.
Poolside at the Delano

I love the Delano pool, it's so relaxing and elegant.....and the perfect place to have some catch up time.  Miss NH had to leave that evening to go back to work, but my friend Mr. Miami (whom I have known for years) picked me up at the Delano, and we went to Casa Tua for a great dinner.....I'm not going to lie.....when I got home from dinner, I still raided the mini bar for chocolate.  I'm so happy to be home and back to eating my healthy food that I'm used to.....I love all that stuff, but only for a few days!

Great trip, and very productive, but so thrilled to be back in my own home again.   I'm just leaving for the gym now....

Stay gorgeous and healthy!

A week without sugar....?!??!?:(

This is my birthday cake above......can you tell I'm dreaming about sugar? Oh....and yes, it's a Barbie cake....and ummmm, it was last year:)  I will always love Barbie!

For the past week I have completely cut sugar out of my diet.  Little by little, over the past month, what had been a small part of my day (sugar) turned into a very large, and out of control habit.  I think with sugar, the more I have, the more I need.  It's been an interesting week, and while I have been craving it, I've also just been sure to eat enough healthy options to keep myself from getting hungry, and weakening my resolve.  One more week, and I think I'll be fine to indulge again:)

My adorable assistant Melissa:)

Tonight I indulged in some amazing Sushi at Douzo, where I took two of my amazing assistants from the salon as a treat.   I love going out for sushi because it's so easy to go out for a great time, and manage to stay on a healthy eating track.  I drank a ton of Voss water, and ordered spicy tuna with brown rice, miso cod, and dragon rolls (eel with sweet potato and avocado).

Oh hey!  Haha, whats that on my plate:) apparently a very HOT, and suggestively shaped pepper!

My favorite trick for eating sushi??  Squeeze some fresh limes in with your soy sauce so it's half and half, then use that for dipping your sushi rolls....so fresh!  I learned this little trick from some Miami locals, and I'd never have sushi without it!

Day 4 California photo shoot:)

Such a fun day of shooting:)  Lauren Melton, my favorite makeup artist in California and an all around sweet girl came to the room to do my hair and makeup in the morning.  We chatted away because we haven't done a shoot together in a year, and there was so much to catch up on.  Having someone there to support me and make me laugh really made all the difference.  We laughed hysterically many times throughout the day, and made some fun videos of the actual shoot.

Something happened this photo shoot.....just sort of clicked inside me, and I felt so much more confident as a model.   I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't hard work, and a long day, but I had so much more fun this shoot than I ever have before.  It's such a nice feeling when you like yourself, and just start to feel really positive.  I think I've gotten past needing to be perfect, and now I just accept who I am and play up my strengths.

Around 4:00 I started to fade energy-wise, and Lauren and I stopped the shoot to go pick up sushi and yummy, healthy food.  I can't work a long day of shooting without enough to eat...I need energy:)

Sorry this blog is a bit delayed, I was so busy on the shoot I never got to send this:)  Btw, the pic today is one that Christopher (the amazzzzzzzing photographer) sent me.  It"s a funny pic (so me) with instructions from him about the shoot:)

Day 3 California photo shoot

Yesterday I was feeling a little critical of myself....I think this is natural anytime I do a photo shoot.  There is a certain amount of pressure knowing that you have to look your best.  I started my day off with oatmeal, protein powder and berries....always my fave when I travel (easy and tons of energy) and a shot of espresso.

The first shot we did was on Hollywood Boulevard, and I have never had so many people swarm around me...AND actually have to model.  People were taking pictures of me getting my picture taken, and asking who was I????? and what is it for??  Trial by fire!  I was a little overwhelmed at first, but by the end of the day....feeling so much more comfortable in front of the camera.

After the shoot, we went and ate tons of sushi.....it was the perfect end to a great day:)  xoxo
